These 1996 pickups are not vintage stuff . Are they "Duncan desing" or "Seymour Duncan" ?

Duncan desing is a low cost pickup. Seymour Duncan are the standard quality of Seymour Duncan Pickups.

IMO there are nothing to do with them if you don't like the sound

From what I know the "Duncan Designed" means exactly that. The Duncan company was hired to design a pickup for a particular guitar and tone. It is then up to the guitar manufacturer to have the pickup built. Who builds it? Some manufacturers will tell you but most will not.

There are a few good places like Korea which have a couple of manufacturers. Then there is China where it can be hit or miss.

To the pups themselves, no, nothing you can do to them outside of replacing them. Well, you can adjust the height of them relative to the guitar strings.

You may also want to try changing the tone capacitor as this will change the tone of the guitar's sound.

Do you know what type/size cap you have now in the guitar?
