Bought a new set from Amazon. Went to install today, but in the black cardboard on the bottom of the pups where the screw will end up-there are only tiny pinholes? I am afraid to ream them out. Hate to send them back but not sure what to do?
Any ideas. I mean if I make the holes bigger I guess the screws will make their own threads but not sure if I should do that.
Thanks

Actually, that's the way they come and it is in fact, the screw which opens them up. Be careful though. one slip and you can damage the coil. I make a pilot run with the screw through the hole from the bottom of the pickup, up. If you have an American Strat, the screw tips for the OEM pickups are tapered so that they can easily start and enlarge the holes on your new pickups.

I think that was\is the problem. The screws aren't tapered.-I should have remembered but it's been a while. I tried what you suggested and it worked fine.
Thanks very much for the help
