I have a question about Locking Tuners.

Sometimes, one of the tuners doesn't really lock the string. It's always the high "E" tuner. I put the string through the eyelet, lock it and see that the string is locked. I can't pull it back and I see that the string is being fastened. But then, when I start to wind the tuner, the string slips before it gets really locked. It's just 2-3mm, but still, it slips. It's not always, I'd say 2 out of 10 times it slips.

There seems to be a ball that locks the string in place. I just wonder why sometimes it fails to completely lock the string.

Does anyone have a hint on how to prevent this slipping?

I'm using Ernie Balls, 10-46 regular slinky.

Cheers

David
