I love the sound of my 2000 American Standard strat pickups. My only issue is the bridge pickup sounds thin and is bright/brittle sounding to my ear. I've tried many other custom builders and to me, the Fender pickups were always best. Therefore, I'd like to stay with Fender brand pickups.

What I seek with pickups is clarity. I play a lot of heavy rhythm type tones. I play electric often how many play acoustic. Heavy rhythm sometimes. Anyway, what pickups would be the best fit for me?

Pickup wise, clarity is a direct product of higher frequencies. Design wise, based on your exacting requirements, the Fender pickup you have in there now is your best bet. Consequently, backing off the tone pot when/as required is your recourse.

I read somewhere the way to go is to wire the pots so that the tone pot works as a blend for the bridge as well. Currently, with the way the pick ups are wired the tone knobs do not effect the bridge. Do you know where I access a digram for making the tone work for the bridge as well?

I can tell you how to do it. Refer to this diagram:

Look at the wiring of the pickup selector switch. You'll see on the right side of the switch that there is one unused terminal. Solder a wire from that terminal to the one directly below it, again on the same side of the switch. That's all you have to do, believe it or not.

How is the pup height ? Have you tried lowering them?
