I purchased a set of these custom shop pickups to be installed in my Robert Cray strat. Due to time constraints i did not install them myself. I took the RC strat and the 69 custom shops to our local dealer to have the pickups installed and the guitar set up. They called three days later,I was excited that my guitar was ready to be picked up but much to my dismay it was bad news. They told me the middle pickup was dead! They were given to them brand new in package, never opened! They also said their tech happens to wind pups for 45. One of the instructions I gave them was to keep original pup covers of the RC,mint green. My question is am I wrong in asuming the store damaged the pickup? Arent the pickups tested before they leave the plant? Would Abigail intial a dead or defective pickup? Enlighten me please! I tend to want to be very angry with the guitar store doing the install!

Welcome.

Unfortunately, this is one of those situations where you'll never know for sure who is responsible for the defective pickup. Frankly and on a side note, I'm rather surprised at the mindset of the dealership, offering to rewind it for you (for a fee, of course), especially since you ordered a specific signature pickup set where rewinding any one of them would completely defeat the purpose of your purchasing the set in the first place. If it were me, I'd call Fender's Customer Service, explain my situation to them (minus your misgivings about the dealership) and take it from there. Good luck.
