If I replace my bridge, will I have to reset my intonation or could I simply swap the bridges out and put strings back on?? What else could I do to make my mexican telecaster more like an american one?

Hello Ijustgothere,

Try to replicate the same positioning as the
original saddles have. That will get you pretty
close, finish up by reintonating.

Best of luck.

Could someone explain to me how to re-intonate my guitar?? it is a fairly new lite ash mexican telecaster. Also.. how much better are replacement pickups vs. the stock mexican ones?

Here is a Strat setup guide from Fender:
http://www.fender.com/support/stratocaster.php

Those measurements are not written in stone for all strats, but are considered a good place to start. I believe they go over intonation there, and in addition to adjusting the intonation on a new bridge, you may also have to adjust the action (string height) at the bridge to fit your guitar better as well. Good luck...

You'll need to have the action adjusted and the bridge intonated. You can set-up the action to your own spec's using Fender's set-up guide. Buying a book on guitar set-up is a great way to learn how to set-up and maintain your guitars and save money in the long run.

As intonation goes, I'd take it to a luthier and have him do a "set-up", you might ask them if you could watch. Trying to set-up a bridge without the experience/proper equipment can be very frustrating and non-productive.

A full set-up would be checking the nut, adjusting the truss rod, adjusting pick-up height and setting-up the bridge.
