I would use the Fender 250K POTS (all 3: volume and two tones) With Orange Drop 22 microfarad capacitor. That is a great sounding setup for the Texas Specials. Wire it as a “grease bucket” set like SRV. It will sound great.

The pots should be audio taper and make that a .022uf on the cap.

Just an FYI.. You may have to ream the holes in your pickguard or control plate if they're Squiers. A lot of Squiers (if not all of them) use pots with smaller diameter shafts than a Fender CTS. Be very careful making those holes bigger if that's the case. Take your time with it.

CTS pots are more than adequate. If you want the "best possible pots", there are several MIL-SPEC branded ones out there which would cost you ridiculous amounts of money and they would simply be 'overkill' for your purposes.

get some cts pots they are good with volume cause there is no sudden drop in volume at a certain point its just a nice smooth transition and they feel like butter.
