Ive got a Lake Placid Blue 1988 Strat Plus with gold Lace Sensor pickups. Lovely guitar but I want to add an option to warm up the pickups when necessary. Can anybody recommend an after market circuit or whatever to do this without colouring the guitars natural character too much?

If you want to warm up the pickups, try turning down the tone controls on the guitar. That's what they're there for.

Hardly meets the OP's requirement "to do this without colouring the guitars natural character too much".

Not to mention the amount of work required to install the kit.

It's not necessary to rout the body for the PCB since the guitar features a bathtub cavity to make things easy.

However, you should perform an extra rout in the back of the guitar to install the battery.
