I bought a 2011 MIM Standard Strat used. I wanted to put in some Texas Specials in it. Well my guitar guy opened it up and it had a set of Fender Custom Shop pu's. But they arnt marked what they are. HIs meter read B 6.83 N6.14 M6.3. Which don't match up to any values that Fender has on it's Custom pick ups. Any Ideas gang? Thanks, Mark

What makes your tech think the pickups are Custom Shops? MIM Standard Strats use ceramic magnets with a magnet on each side of the pole pieces. Please provide a sharp photo of the back of the pickguard and a closeup of the pickups.

To be honest, they look like they could be Texas Specials. The magnet edges are not beveled and the resistance is within the range of the Texas Specials resistance. You can't expect them to measure exactly the same due to tolerances in the wire winding and meter. A measurement of each pickups's inductance would narrow things down further. How do they sound?

Bill, they sounded great, but nothing like the TS. I also had new pots a new switch and a fat resister and now modded it to be able to blend pickups.. Texas Specials rock!! The others have a great sound more refined, the Specials are raw ,bold, brash, sweet, I guess I'll put them on Cragis List. Thanks for your help, Mark

Frankly, I'm in agreement with Bill. Further, note the red dot on the bottom of the B string's polepiece. of all the Custom Shop offerings and to the best of my knowledge, only the Texas Specials have a designated bridge pickup and are marked accordingly with that red dot.

The TS set has a RW/RP middle pickup -- the lead-ins for it should be color-coded in yellow/black.

I just checked the pick ups, 2 have a black and white wire's and one has a light yellow and black wire's. Could the new pot's make a huge difference in the sound? Cus the new pick ups sound wicked good the others I had replaced sounded OK but nothing like the new set up. Mark

Again, as we've all been saying, you are verifying your set as Texas Specials.

What is the resistance value of your pots?

See the OP's first post. They are well within the range of the TS spec. Much closer to TS spec than any other Custom Shop pickup of current vintage.

I did and as previously stated, I agree with you. My above quote asks for the pots' resistance.
