A little bit ago, I scored these on eBay for $14 and some change. The original owner thought they were MIJ.

The front side, with the magnets have rings etched into the top. The back has a strange white magnet covering it. I just need some confirmation if possible, thanks.

They are indeed of generic Asian import, not necessarily limited to Japan though.

Those magnets with the etched rings into the top are not magnets at all. Rather, they are ferrous polepieces which without the magnet attached to them from the bottom, would not be able to induct the strings vibrations into and through the coil. The white stripe on the magnet indicates its polarity. FYI: The magnet is ceramic.

Ahhh thanks. It was only $14, so not much loss.

You're quite welcome. I wouldn't call it a loss by any means though. They make for a nice, crisp neck pickup or, if you pop the magnet off, make a perfect dummy coil for making a 'regular' Strat pickup humbucking and/or in many cases, make an entire 'regular' Strat's circuit humbucking.

I don't like humbuckers. They hum more than my single coil, which is kind of embarrassing. I might switch the neck pickup from the humbucker in my Tele to one from here. I was thinking of doing mint green with an aged cover and regular Tele knobs. (the body is candy apple red, the neck is maple)

Did I mention that they came with a set of pots and a switch? I think he said the pots were Squier CV and the switch was from WD.

Whatever.

I routinely discard or give that stuff away.

You hatin on Squier pots and WD? I have no problem with it, considering how low the price was. I'm pretty good on cash atm. (Made $60 on eBay today)

I have no problem with you having no problem with it.

There's really nothing under the hood of a Squier guitar that I'd ever consider using on one of my instruments or those of my clients.

Squiers are amazing quality entry level instruments though. You know you'd take one for free or a really good price. (GC had a deal for a CV Tele for $79. They're like $200 - $400 on eBay depending on bid activity)
