Just installed a set of CS 69's in my 1991 Plux Dlx. Unfortunately the sound is, just bad. There has to be something wrong. It's extremely bright, to the point where it seems like the sound is clipping. On all 3 pickups, no matter the height. Been over the wiring a hundred times... Any suggestions?

What value are the volume/tone pots and the tone caps?

250k work best for volume and tone controls with traditional single-coil pickups. I favor .022mfd oil-in-paper tone caps.

Thanks for the reply! I guess unfortunately, those are the values I'm using. Very strange. Can't seem to figure it out so I think I'm going to return them and stick with the stock lace sensors. Thanks again.

In comparison to Lace pickups, any Fender Strat pickup is more trebly. In comparison with the rest of Fender's Strat pickup models, the CS 69s are by far the most trebly and void of midrange of the bunch.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Great response, thank you! While we're on the subject, could you recommend a model that's a little "beefier" but still retains a nice vintage tone? I definitely like bottom and middle responses.

Within the Fender brand, the Fat '50s. No question about it.
