I bought an 95' or 97' American strat loaded pickguard awhile back and the pickups kind of sound dull on the bass strings. I play through a Vox ad50vt w/2x12 speakers. Is it my pickups? Any info would be appreciated.

The following can be attempted separately or in an any/all combo:
- Raise the pickups on the bass side a tad closer to the strings.
- Change your volume pot to a 500K.
- Change your capacitor to a .022uf (or even lighter to a .01uf).
- Change your string set alloy.
Aside from these, there isn't much else.

Hi Martian. I took your advice and raised the pickups more on the bass side and it was a good improvement. Might do the capacitor change to get more definition if that makes since. Thanks again.

Greetings. I'm glad things are working out. For a more dramatic change in definition, forget about the cap and go with a 500K (audio) volume pot.
