Hey everyone how are you doing? My name is Jake and I was just wondering if anyone knows, from experience, if it is at all possible to somehow put Texas Special pickups into a 1961 Gibson SG reissue. My reasons are my own. If you really want to know why I would do such a thing I'll tell you but I really don't want to waste anyone's time here, I would just like to know if this can be done and how to go about doing it. Thank you for your time and consideration.

You can put any pickup you want into any guitar you want if you are willing to spend the time, money, and labor necessary to do it right. I would suggest that you first look at the shape of a Fender single coil pickup and compare it to the shape of the pickup route for a humbucker or P90 (depending on what is already in the SG to begin with) and it should be pretty obvious what will be required to do the job. Hint #1: You are installing a smaller pickup into a much larger hole. How are you going to fill in the space around the Fender pickup? Hint #2: It is easier to install a humbucker into a guitar already routed for a Fender single coil. You just make the route bigger.

Hey Bill, I currently have a pair of 57' classics in the SG. I was thinking about getting a couple of humbucker parts kits so that I can keep the routing holes occupied with the 57' classic humbucker housing and using that same housing to hold the Texas Specials as far as what kind of material to use on the inside of the housing, so that the pickup doesn't float around, I'm not sure yet. I was thinking something non-conductive like wood or fiberglass.

Keep the SG as it is. Buy an American Special Strat. It comes with Texas Specials.
