Hello I have a stratocaster with the midboost clapton kit .

This kit has one 50k pot for the volume , 250k for the tone gain boost and a tbx pot

I would like install the fernandes sustainer but this kit uses a 500 k volume pot , and 500 k tone pot , the last pot is 250 k por for the sustainer gain .

I am thinking to disconnect the tbx and use this for the sustainer gain .

But my question is , could i change the midboost pots ( volume and tone gain boost ) for the fernandes sustainer pots without have sound problems ?

What do you think that have to do ?

Thank you and a greeting

Welcome.

A higher resistance pot on the Fender system will cause the circuit to shriek and howl in a non-musical way. Conversely, a lower resistance pot on the Fernandez system will radically limit its functionality to where all you'll have sonically is a fuzzy mess. In either's case, the dynamics of all the pots will not work properly.

The chief factor here is the resistance of the volume pot, not the tone pots. The Fender system by design must have a 50K ohm pot (or less) whereas with the Fernandez system, the resistance must be 100 times higher (or more). This is a huge resistance difference where surely, no compromise is possible.
