after two months of waiting after ordering the tone zone s dp189 , i have it and now am too nervous to install myself, i have the american deluxe with the s1 and the schematic looks daunting !

Actually, you really don't even need the schematic. With the DiMarzio, solder the black and white wires together and tape (or shrink tube) them off. Unsolder the two leads from the Fender pickup it is replacing and solder the green and red wires of the DiMarzio where the Fender wires were; do them one at a time. Test and if you find the DiMarzio is out of phase with the Fender(s), reverse the red and green wires of the DiMarzio. Of course, the bare wire on the DiMarzio is always a ground.

I wouldn't. The majority of these high output "S" type pickups are designed under the premise that they are going into guitars with 250Ks. Also, if you did go with a 500K, it would make your remaining two OEM pickups sound clanky and sterile.

On Dimarzio parallel is red and white hot and black and green ground or Standard is red hot white and black together and green ground
