Howdy!

I'm going to be working on my Classic Player 60's Strat soon...

Image

....and was thinking about replacing the custom 69 bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 that I have in my spares box.

Image

I'm more than happy with the 69 Neck and Middle pickups but find the 69 bridge just too weak. I'm hoping the SSL-5 will be a hotter yet suitable replacement.

I'd very much appreciate it if anyone could confirm whether or not its worth me making the swap.

Cheers! :D

Andy

Edit: Spooling mistakes

Andy, Fender uses the SSL-5 in the bridge of the Gilmour CS Strat. It does the job there for sure. I think you'd like the way it sounds!

Andy,

That's a perfect match!!!

Don't forget to resynchronize the magnetic flux for best results.

Indeed!

And the guitar will sound at its best when played through a 1.21 jigga-watt tube amp.

Rawk on!

Sweet! I was hoping this would be the case.

Ah, yes. Now just to confirm: This is done by pressing down on the strings so they're in contact with all the pole pieces, right?

As often as I possible can! :D

Thanks for the input chaps! T'is much appreciated. I'll be updating my CP60's thread in the Strat forum over the next couple of days so you can see how it turns out there.

Thanks again!

Andy

Gently and all at the same time and then, gently, slowly and evenly relieving the pressure until the strings have returned to their normal positions.

Enjoy!!!

I had my black strat set up that way before no complaints, I just switched to a Dimarzio super distortion s, to really push my amp. :D
