Hello Gents

I am gathering parts to put together a strat.
It has an alder body, all maple neck and SS frets.

I'm interested in CS Fat 50s pickup set and noticed
that the output of the bridge pup has actually a lower
ouput (6.2K) than the mid pup (6.3K). Any reason for it?

If I add a base plate under the bridge pup, would
it increase the output??

Adding a base plate isn't likely to increase the coil's output. However, increasing the magnetic mass of the poles will enhance the mid/bass response.

I was prepared to add a base plate to my Fat 50's bridge pickup when building a new ash-bodied hardtail. However, the guitar sounded so sweet without it that I abandoned the idea.

Greetings and all that good stuff.

All pickups are wound to established tolerances. Clearly, 6.2K vs. 6.3K in this particular situation would not only be within such parameters but audibly indiscernible, one to the other. It should be noted however that a pickup's output should not be judged by merely DC resistance alone as there are so many more factors involved.

I see your base plate question has already been answered.

Of course, best of luck with your build and remember, we LOVE build threads and pictures!! :D

I see... Guess I should look for a different bridge pup.
Thanks for the help!
