I recently bought a Standard MIM Strat.

I was replacing the pickguard w/ a white pearl 3 ply. I had assumed that the PU's were stock when i bought it, but when i took off the PG, I saw this:

Can anyone tell me what PU's these are?

Thanks..

Hard to say with certainty but I can tell you what they aren't: They're not Fat '50s, Texas Specials, nor Tex-Mex......those sets all feature a RW/RP middle pickup which is characteristically marked with yellow and black lead-in wire. Likewise they aren't SCN's, Lace Sensors, Vintage Noiseless, nor any of those types. That narrows the possibility down to the CS '54s, the CS 57/62's, and the CS 69's. You might take some measurements of each pickup with a DVM then compare your results with the published specs for each of these sets.

Fender has the specs for all of their available pickups posted on this website -- go to "products" at the top of this page, select "accessories", then scroll to the pickups.

Hopefully, "martian" will drop by with some additional data -- he's our resident pickup and wiring guru.

Best of luck

They wouldn't be 57/62, those are not custom shop

CS 69 have grey flatware

so most likely Custom Shop 54:

Formvar magnet wire (which is what it looks like per the neck pup)

All black and white wires

Bridge: Red dot on B string pole
Resistance: 6.5k
Inductance: 2.75 Henries

Middle:

Resistance: 5.9k
Inductance: 2.4 Henries

Neck:

Resistance: 5.9k
Inductance: 2.4 Henries

I agree with this. However, you cannot discount the possibility that those "Custom Shop" stickers could have been placed there surreptitiously.

+1!

Chevrolet sold enough Z28 emblems over the years to make fifty million of those Camaros.

True Martian.

The other factor though is that the only pups with cloth wire, are either 57/62's or CUSTOM SHOP.

And the possibility that the wires could have also been replaced and/or that they are some other brand relabeled; the variables list goes on and on. I don't want to come off like some kind of 'doom and gloom' type here but I do indeed sporadically run into clever bootlegs.

The more I look at this particular set though, I feel it was NOT tampered with and it is in fact, legit. I say this for two reasons: 1st, the level of expertise is to where the wirer would not waste his or her time, efforts and possibly reputation to deceive and 2nd, the edges on the stickers do not look like they were ever manipulated after the initial application.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.
