Hi, to all the great musician out there,

I been using fender for a few years now. But I was wondering what could be done to boost the gain level of the fender bass. All advice will be appreciated. Thanks..

My specs:
Fender jazz 5 strings (passive)
Audere pre amp
Norstand passive pick ups.

Welcome.

The only practical options I can think of are:
1. Raise your pickups as close to the strings as possible where the magnets aren't literally pulling in the strings themselves.
2. Switch to a more powerful preamp.
3. Switch to a more powerful amp.
4. Switch to a more powerful pickup set.
5. Physically play harder.

Don't forget to use a hotter string.
Stainless steel are hotter than Pure Nickle fender 7150's.
A string like DR high beams or bass boomers are very loud. I use them for everything from classic rock to metal. Harkes Transient attack are very live and hot also...

You can wire the pickups in series which effectively doubles the volume of the Jazz. It will have a "kick butt" tone (fatter and louder) more like a P which is two pickups wired in series to make "One pickup" basically.
It will loose some of it's Jazz bass personallity and gain a significantly hotter output that is tonally some where between a Jazz and a Precision. Or buy a Boss OD-3 overdrive pedal that will have increased and somewhat fatter tone. It has the capability to turn the gain down and the output volume level up for a louder but cleaner tone too.
