I have NO bonafide information on what I'm about to say. Rather, this a just a 'gut feeling' that I have: The design/construction of these pickups imply to me in the strongest terms that they are imported or at the very least, of imported influence. Consequently, you will not be able to get exacting specs on them other than what is already out there in terms of other similar imported pickups.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

It uses an Alnico V. As to how it sounds, although it is a neck position model, I think it sounds rather decent in the bridge for Rock and Pop applications where a specific tonality is not required.

I'm assuming it's probably like the Gibson PAF Humbuckers except with alinco 5 instead of alnico 2 magnets. If so then that's just what I'm looking for! :)

It is in the same ilk, using modern technology processes which make for a cheaper production cost. Here too, people shouldn't get too hung up on the fact that it is imported. Again, if one is not looking for a specific signature type sound, it is a fine utility humbucker for many applications and capable of doing a fine job. I've heard many a player get many a good sound out of this particular pickup.

This is what got me to like the thing. You know how a humbucker sounds as if it has the tone nob turned down a little compared to a SC. This HB does not sound like that, but infact had the clarity of a SC when clean and was sweet when you got it dirty. It had a nice crunch, like a fresh bowl of cereal and a good bit of bottom.

This may sound like a stupid question, but what do the tone controls do? I mean I've messed with them before on my Strat but as far as I can tell they don't alter the tone. I'm probably completely wrong so can someone please fill me in here? Haha.

No. There is a very easy and free way to have an Alnico V HB mimic an Alnico II HB however. Simply lower the Alnico V HB far away from the strings. Yes, I'm quite serious. By doing so, the magnetic field is weakened between the strings and the pickup.
