I just replaced my stock p/u's with a set of lace sensors (red, silver blue). The red in the bridge sounds too trebely and the blue in the neck position sounds muddy, especially the bass strings. The silver in the middle sounds kinda thin. Should I have replaced my pots and/or capacitor as well or is that how these p/u's usually sound? Anybody else using these? Comments/suggestions please.

IIRC, the Blue is supposed to sound like a PAF, the Silver, a slightly hotter Strat pickup and the Red is supposed to be a high output type Strat pickup designed for overdriving.

Frankly, I wouldn't use this combo as your observations is exactly what I would expect.

When I used to use Lace Sensors, I had Golds in the neck and middle, and a Silver in the bridge. To me, that's the best, most traditional sounding Strat combo with a little more power from the bridge.

If you do not want to spend any more money on pickups, I'd put the Red in the middle, the Silver in the neck and Blue in the bridge.

As always, everone's mileage may vary.

The Red should be fat, not thin. I prefer 500k pots with this set. It really opens them up. But something is wrong with that Red...
