Hi All,
I just ordered a set of Custom Shop Texas Special Strat P/U's for my new 08 American Standard Strat, I'm hoping they'll juice it up a bit, I'll let you know how they sound.
Anyone have them in their strat? 8)

I have them in one of my mim Strats. I absolutely love them, experiment with the pup height, I find they sound best real low.

Enjoy them!!

:o

I have them in a Mexican Strat that I upgraded. They soud just wonderful and if you are a SRV fan well tone her down half step, increase your string gage up to the maximum youncan bend, (mines are .10 to .52 and plug the baby into a Fender Blues Deluxe Reisue.

Now enjoy!

if you're having trouble using larger guages play an acoustic for a day and try bending those, when I do it the .12-.58's on my strat play like butter

I like the Texas Specials Strat pickups.

"experiment with height" is right ... you will probably find that they sound better lower. So don't put 'em too high.

What kind of amp do you use? I hope it has good, warm built in distortion.

I think I'll have to take my strat somewhere to have the p/u's installed. I am running thru a 65 twin reverb and a blues junior.

as stated the sound much better mounted low on the pick gaurd.
I have an SRV Strat and initially the pick ups sounded kind of raw and with way too much bite......lowering them made all the diff. They are a high output pup keeping them low reduces the magnetic pull on the strings and allows for greater sustain and a better overall dynamic. I have them almost flush at the neck and a little higher with the mid and bridge. Enjoy

okay, well, I got my new strat yesterday and after playing it all night, I'm NOT going to put the texas specials in, the stock p/u's are definetly good to go.

I have the SRV strat with the texas special pickups in it.... I took it in to get it set up with 12-56's on it and the guitar tech was having problems with it :S ..... I was told the intonation was badly screwed up on it and no matter what he tried he couldn't fix it :S MAN was I worried lol...... He later found out that you can't have those pickups too close to the strings or it throws the intontation out :S :) weird! lol
