Picked this guitar up about a week ago. Seems to be a frankenstein. So I am trying to identify what parts I have. I have looked at the pickups inside at out and there are no identifying marks. They don't appear to be anything special but then I am anything but an expert. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I will try to get a better picture if necessary.

They look like the cheap ceramic magnet pickups that came in my MIM Standard Strat and numerous other cheap import Strats.

+1

Likely from a Bullet or an Affinity.

Deep-six them into a convenient dumpster and look for some quality pickups.

I like mine as well -- two Strats SCN-equipped, both with the S1 switching system.

Any other recommendations for replacements? Probably won't be done for a while though. Sanding the paint off the guitar currently. Looks like the previous owner thought it was a good idea to use a brush to paint it.

What type of music do you play and what kind of amp and pedalboard set-up do you have?

Let's just say I'm trying(key word here) to get a decent setup after giving up my electric 20 years ago. So I have nothing but a crappy practice amp. I know....it sucks. :( I didn't want to drop hundreds on an amp if it turned out the guitar was junk. After looking at the guitar I know I have something to work with. First I want to deal with the weakest link which looks to be the pickups.

So....if you had to start from scratch and you had a limited budget what would you start with?

I play classic rock most if the time. Zeppelin, Clapton, etc.

Honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with Fender's 57/62 set. I regard them as the prototypical Strat sound. For some real "thermal overload", the Texas Specials are notoriously hot. If you tend to a slightly mellower vibe, with some increased "beef" in the mids, then the Fat '50s will keep a smile on your face. Another well-balanced set is the Custom Shop '69s -- very smooth, very articulate. If you need noiseless-types, the DiMarzios sound the "Strattiest" to my ear.

Best of luck with your quest, HTH

Thanks for the additional recommendations. I am looking at the 57/62 set.

What are the odds that my old set would sell on Ebay for a few dollars. I would assume I would list them as MIM Stratocaster style Pickups.

I apologize if this is against forum rules for talking about Ebay but I would like to recoup a little $$ for the new pickups.

Don't even waste your time. Shipping would cost more then the pickups are worth.
