I bought a new Deluxe players strat and a set of Texas Special pups. What pots etc are in the deluxe players strat? I haven't pulled the pg yet, actually haven't even played the guitar yet though I've had it for a month. Anything I need to be aware of before I start?

I recently dissected a 2007 one. It had a 500K volume pot and the tone pots were both 1,000K. As the Texas Specials were designed with 250K pots in mind, you might want to replace the OEM ones with 250Ks as well.

Of note: If you leave the OEM pots in, not only will the Texas Specials sound quite anemic but you will find the pots' dynamic taper horrible to ineffective.

You haven't even played the new guitar yet, so you have no idea what it sounds like, but you are replacing the pickups that came with it with Texas Specials? Why did you buy it in the first place and why do you feel it necessary to change pickups? :?: :?: :?:

I bought the Deluxe Players with the idea of building a poor mans SRV...I bought the guitar, pickups and a pickguard at the same time. I got an AAA primo example of one. The VN pups are gonna g in a Classic 50's Strat with a Clapton midboost. Sounds like I need to get new guts for the TS and use the pots that came with the VN's .
