If there is already a Thread for this sorry..

I was looking at some loopers yesterday and decided to come home with the Digitech Jamman Solo. I just wanted something simple. I researched the Boss RC-2 but when I looked at both side by side and read the instruction manuals The Digitech offered more, but was the Jamman Solo simply over compensating? One feature I liked about the Boss RC-2 was that it auto sensed the signal and started to record meaning that the begining was recorded right in time, every time! The jamman you really have to work to get it right. the ending same thing. Practice makes perfect and after getting loops with awkward starts and pauses I finally got this down to a science. Now I havent played or even tried to use the Boss RC-2 but I did see the videos and it looked simple enough. The boss had sufficient space and 11 channels. But the Digitech had more, more, more! I even purchased a 4G SDHC card giving me some crazy amounts of space. It has more room and software to interact with a computer(I really liked this!) The Drum and bass tracks on the Digitech I feel are completely un satisfactory, Considering thier worksations can produce decent rythm tracks. On a scale from 1-10 I would rate this about a 7-8 lets face it, it does what its meant to do. and I was jamming great with it! It works! but compared to whats out there I think it may be better. Or maybe its my buyers' Remorse.
One Key thing I think was another strong sell point for me was that it came with a power adapter, the Boss Does not and I'm a "ready to play out of the box" kind of guy .
Any way I just wanted to know if any one else had a chance to play with either one of these toys, and what did you guys think about 'em.

I chose the Jamman Solo because it has increased loop capbilities too, and the sound quality is said to be of Computer CD 44.1 kHz, 16bit WAV file. In addition I like the fact that it runs on regular pedal board power. Also, you're right about overkill, I looped over 78 tracks (some as long as 3-4 min) and its not even 1GB memory. I am having a lot of fun with it and it helps me improve my tempo (as I always had bad tempo). Now, I warm up and get into grooves and use it in a weekly jam session with others (we got no drummer). Also, I just built a foot switch to change loops on the fly, this footswitch is a must have to expand the capabilities of the Looper and do complete songs. It is the last pedal I could squeeze on my small board. I can also take it out of the line to my main amp using the stereo chorus.

You can find the instructions on the wiring of the switch online. I figure why pay $39 for a pedal that you can make for about $10 (without enclosure).

I still cant seem to create a seamless loop. I either get an awkward pause before the loop restarts. I havent connected it to the computer yet but do you have the schematics on the pedal board you created I would love to look it over.

There is a way to turn off the pedal in tempo on the jamman. However, I find it easy to pedal in a tempo store the tempo, and come in on the red tempo light and count 4 beats and start on the 4th beat which is which is when the red record light comes on to record the loop. I use the default 4/4 time with the symbol for the start beat.

As for the switch.
Easy to make, just 3 momentary (on) switches and 2 diodes and some wire.
There is a PDF file out on the internet with a diagram of the wiring.
Also, there is more info on these websites as well a some youtube info.
diyguitarist.com and diystompboxes.com

Hope this helps.

I couldn't find the website with the schematics. However here is a photo of the diagram I used. The diodes can be of any 2 watt value zenders.

That's too bad, sounds like the store sucks #&^$%*Q. Anyway, good luck with the new amp, I hope it has a good warranty like the Fenders because the store seems like they will blow you off if you try to return it.

No Im going back to my main guy at momar music. I might sell this amp and use the money to get a JBL alnico speaker put into my Fender Hotrod. Im not that great on amp mods and speakers, But I went in there asking him to make a replica of the Fender Hot rod 12" enclosure cab buy the Celestion Speaker and everything making it to specs. and he said for the sale price I could take out the "Ceramic" Celiestion thats in it and replace it with an Alnico speaker in it and it would sound just as loud as the amp and cab and so much better. I think I might go that route. He said he'll even throw in casters because its going to ad some weight LOL
