Hey guys...quick question. So I have a Blackout Tele which has 3 pickups (reg. bridge, reg. neck, and middle is like the neck pup), my question is this...Is there any way that anybody here is aware of that I could get a set of the CS Texas special for my guitar? Or am I going to have to buy a second set for just one pickup? I really don't feel like shelling out that much cash for the third pickup, but I have a feeling that if I swapped only the bridge/neck or bridge/middle, the remaining stock pickup would be noticeably lower in the output dept. and I'd rather stick to my stockers before doing that.
Thanks guys for any help. If I'm unable to get the answers I'm looking for here, I'll post on ask Mike Eldred on Monday, but thought I'd see what I could drum up before that.

Also, if anybody has any info on the specs of the stock pickups in this guitar that might also help me make a decision on what to do. I have scoured the web looking for any kind of specs but I have found absolutely nothing.

Lastly...Is it possible with a multi-meter to test the output of my stock pickups? Sorry for my ignorance on this matter as I have only recently gotten into modding my guitars, and I have yet to do much of anything that has to do with pickups.
I am an automotive electrician, so I do know my way around a multi-meter, but am uncertain of how to test a pickups output, if even possible.
Once again, thanks for any help.

Tim,

The Seymour Duncan line of Tele pickups have models comparable to what you require. Further, you can buy each one "ala-carte", so to speak. Go to the website and check them out as they have the descriptions, tone charts and sound bytes for your perusal.

Spec wise on your OEMs, I can't give you exact numbers but again, Duncan has stuff which will equal or exceed your requirements.

You can check the DC resistance of your pickups with a VOM set to 1K ohms. However, this is not the most precise way to tell their output. In many but not all cases, this method will give you a 'guesstimate' in terms of single coil pickups as to their power as there are so many more factors which are the genuine indicators where a VOM cannot measure them.

Good luck and don't apologize as we all started from "square one" at one time or the other.

Thanks for the reply Martian...
I think I'll check out the Seymours, and I think Fralin might have some very similar options as well.
I've always been a fan of Texas Specials in Teles, but I'd rather not spend all the extra cash for a pickup I won't be needing. So I believe I'll look around a little and see if I have any options for the TXSP's, otherwise I'll look at other brands and see what they have. I simply prefer the idea of keeping Fender pups in the guitar.
Thanks again for the help, don't think I'll really even waste my time testing the stock pups if it's not accurate, as I doubt that I'll be willing to change only two when the time comes anyhow. Now, I shall peruse the link you provided and see what I find over at the Seymour Duncan site.

 Wow...Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders! Those things sound awesome! Same basic tone "profile" as the TXSP's, but a little more clarity. Unless I find something better, which I doubt, I believe I have found some good ones.
