Attach one end to the strap button if it has one. At the other end, use the cord that should have come with the strap and attach it to the headstock, between the nut and the tuners, under the strings. If your guitar hasn't got a strap button - many come without one - ask your local guitar shop to fit one; it's easy to damage the guitar if you're not careful.

Ya gotta have Bourbon, Lots of Kentucky Bourbon, then just hook the thing on the strap buttons, and you can temporarily if need be use the string tie method around the neck, but best bet is have your local music store install a set of buttons for you. Then its a snap ! And your Guitar will thank you for it.
