I typically follow 2 Strat wiring setups, the Vintage Noiseless and Fender Standard. Most pickups I use are Fender Vintage Noiseless and my all time favorites, the American Standards from the mid 90's USA Strats.

I bought 2 sets of Texas Specials to try in some of my Strats using the basic Fender wiring and found these TS's to be a bit twangy much like the Tex Mex pickups (in my opinion). I know it can't be the wiring because on one Texmex Strat I had V-Noiseless pups which sounded really good. I pulled only the pickups and swapped them with the TS's... Obviously I switch them back but will use these 2 sets of TS's on future projects.

Can anyone offer some diagram tips? I use basic 250k pots and 5 ways switches, all quality, either genuinue Fender or Stewmac replacements. Wiring guage is all consistent as well.

Fender here has a section that shows all there guitars set up and wiring diagrams.

Here is a "Jimmy Vaughan" strat with the tex mex pick ups.
I figured it would be close to what you need wiring wise.

I hope this helps.

What value tone cap are you using?

I thought the Vintage Noiseless P/U's used a 1Meg Vol pot and 500K Tone Pots, these will make the Texas Specials sound overly bright. Are you sure you are running 250k pots with the Texas Specials, since you mention you only changed the pickups?

Snowy.
