Am I missing something?

Are Custom Shop Tex Mex Pickups under rated or just crap.

They are of modest output yet do have a nice 'zing' to them. Granted, they wouldn't be my first choice but I'd still confidently gig with them. YMMV.

I think Tex Mex pickups are underrated. I think they sound great.

I would have to strongly agree sir.

I think Tex Mex dressed with a nice overdrive are a much better pickup for the blues than Texas Specials.

I would put Tex Mex in my top 5 easy.

One thing I found with the Tex-Mex is I had to lower the pickups way beyond factory specs to balance the sound and smooth out the high strings. Up close it was shrill and thinny sounding like fingernails on a clalk board on the high strings and with a bottom end that was too punchy and overpowering the high strings. But then this is through a 5e3. Other amps may vary.

Where can I buy a set of Tex Mex pickups for my MIM standard telecaster? Can't find them at any store, or on any on-line retailer, I have them in my Roadworn 50s Tele, and I think they are the best pickups I've ever heard! Been playin 40 yrs, and I'm a diehard Fender guy, wouldn't be caught dead with a Gibson...my standard needs the upgrade!

You can often find them on Ebay.

Since when are Tex-Mex pickups "Custom Shop" (per Kineman Karma's original post)? Texas Specials, yes, but not Tex Mex.

Thanx, but those are for a Stratocaster (set of 3, middle p/u reverse wound for hum cancelling), I need the Telecaster set.
