Hey guys! Posted this in the Tele section cos forgot about down here but no replies so....

Heavily considering treating myself for Christmas and dropping one of these in my 72 Custom RI.

Would be great to hear any opinions from you guys if there are any users out there.

Much appreciated!

Inherently, the pickup is essentially flat in terms of its EQ. Or to put it another way, its power comes from a puking midrange. Any appreciable frequency response would come more so from the guitar's hardware rather than the pickup itself. Surely, any traditional Tele tones such as 'snap' and 'twang' would be lost. It will make your guitar will sound like a weak Les Paul Jr.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Sorry to disappoint you but I call 'em the way I see (or in this case, hear) 'em. At least this way, it didn't cost you anything.

You're welcome and thank you for your compliment!

Any compliments you get are well deserved bro!

Do you recommend any of the other noiseless pups from DiMarzio or elsewhere?

Thanks again!

Thank you, once again!

To be perfectly honest with you, Teles are a tough nut to crack in terms of bridge pickups. I say this because and as you know, the 'balls' of any pickup is found in its midrange. Also as you know, a traditional Tele bridge pickup is noted for its 'snap' and 'twang' which in fact, is due to lack of midrange meaning, it can't inherently be too powerful a pickup. See where I'm going with this?

IMO, your "happy medium" in a stack design would be the DiMarzio Fast Track. The Fast Track was designed to be (vs. an OEM) more powerful with an elevated midrange while retaining a healthy twang and a crisp bass akin to a traditional Tele pickup. Now if you leave the 250Ks pots in, you will get more compression, resulting in enhanced midrange. In the event you find the pickup a bit too 'fizzy' or losing a tad to much traditional Tele, not to worry as the pickup is very sensitive to pot value. You could always change to a 500K pot or pots down the road. This will lower the compression and midrange hump thereby spreading out the frequency response of the pickup making it more OEM 'Tele-ish' to suit your needs.

Based on what I perceive your requirements to be though, I do believe you'll be thoroughly happy with this pickup and your OEM 250K pots. And no, the OEM capacitor(s) do not have to be changed to accommodate the Fast Track.

Nice one Martian mate. I'm defo checking that pup out. It does sound more like what I'm wanting just from demos I've heard.

You are a huge help as always. Thanks!
