Post subject: what is the best meanest pickup woth tone out there?

i have been building a new partsocaster lately and im in need of help. it has a maple and ebony neck a swamp ash body and the pickup needs to be a humbucker. for the electronics i was thiking like a van helan style thing the one bridge pickup a volume with tone maybe a orginal bumble bee cap (i got for free he he)and i do have vitiman q's sprouge ceamics and paper and wax cap. basicly i want a loud pickup with good sustain resonable harmonics and good tone most importantly NO ACTIVES they suck. one more questions are the evh pots any good i love a good smooth pot

In order to get some sort of good advice on this, it helps to know what kind of music you're playing. Metal, Rock, etc.. All dirty, some clean, etc. Do you like vintage, modern sounds? Without knowing those kinds of things, it hard to help.

i have a duncan sh-6 distortion and its is very high output and is passive as well

I agree on the Bill Lawrence. They sound awesome, and you cant beat the price for a handwound pickup.
