I wired up my MIM black strat with the following configuration:

DiMarzio FS-1 bridge pup
Lace Sensor Red and Blue middle and neck pup
the David Gilmour micro toggle neck switch
stock Fender 5 pos blade switch
Eric Clapton midboost circuit - 50K pot in vol control, others as specified
fully shielded control cavity

I followed the wiring diagram fully - everything was working correctly for the first 20 minutes of operation. But then I started getting a feedback type howl when I turned the volume control below 7 - and as I change the levels of the TBX and MBX controls I get slight variations in pitch. It almost sounds like a feedback oscillation - a short somewhere that kicks in when the pot gets to 10K or so in resistance.

Please help!! I love the guitar - it's a hybrid Gilmour/Clapton thing that I cobbled together with 1 pc maple neck, 1 layer black pickguard on black body, with the 4.5" trem arm and everything. While I can still play it and survive for the short term, I'm driving my bandmates nuts in rehearsal with not being able to turn down the guitar to zero between tunes.

Thanks,
Rob

Could it be the FS1 and one of the lace pickups shorting through the switch?

Try ditching the switch. Sacrifice one of your inbetween sounds for the Bridge+Neck combination. Simply move either the bridge or neck pickup to the lug that the middle pickup is now on

Other than that, could the circuitboard be shorting across the shielding. Incidentaly you have no need for that shielding with them pickups.
