I have a guitar with 2 humbuckers, 3-way switch, 1 volume, 1 tone

Problem:
Using the 3-way switch the Bridge pickup works fine in both middle and bridge position. Neck pickup will not work. I have a digital tuner hooked up to the guitar as I'm testing the positions.

I took a test lead (after checking the grounds) and ran it from the Hot lead of the input jack to the Hot lead of the neck pickup....strummed the strings and my digital tuner sensed the neck pickup! So what does this mean? Is my 3 way switch bad? Or is there another culprit?

Thanks much for any advice!
p.s. 3-way switch looks similar to a Switchcraft

You should connect your tuner between the ground of the output jack (not on the hot lead) and the hot lead of your neck pickups.

If it work, your PU is good, 3 way sw could be deffective or bad solder

Can you send a picture of your neck pickup connexions on the 3 way switch ?

Thanks for the response! Fortunately before I gave up on the 3-way switch, I gave it a spray of contact/control lubrication cleaner. Came home from work and works 100% now! I bought the spray for scratchy pots I had on another guitar and it did the trick wonderfully on this job.

Thanks again for the help!

A tin of good contact cleaner and the microstraw is everyone's best friend.

Perfect for guitar maintenance and I even used some to repair an old Korg M1 keyboard earlier this year.

It's a can of liquid miracle..
