I have a Fender Select HSS.
I was thinking about changing it to SSS.
Has anyone done this ? I would like some info.
I'm sure I need a new pickguard.
I'm guessing I need 4 wires of the humbucker to go to 2 wires of the single, so each lead from the single gets a pair ?
What effect on the S1 does this have ? Does the S1 do anything to the single ? (It does not do anything to the humbucker).

Help !
TIA

While the S1 switch doesn't have any affect while only the Humbucker is on (position 5), it does work with the 2nd 3rd and 4th positions as shown in this diagram: http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stratocaster/0101500_02A/SD0101500_02APg4.pdf

If you want to see how the HSS is wired with the S1 most likely this is it:
http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stratocaster/0101500_02A/SD0101500_02APg2.pdf

To wire the guitar with SSS, the wiring would look like this: http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stratocaster/0101200_02A/SD0101200_02APg2.pdf

and the switching would be: http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stratocaster/0101200_02A/SD0101200_02APg4.pdf

Hope that helps.

While it wont arrive until tomorrow, I have lots of plans for my new American Standard SSS that I recently bought, but now am waiting for info from a
FASC as to IF I can do what I want. If I hand in my new guitar to a FASC and pay 74.99 for the schaller Locking Tuners, 26.95 for a Black Pick Guard in HSS configuration, 79.99 for a Diamondback Humbucker and 19.95 for a
Accessory Kit in Black plus SVC charges for doing the work, will my
brand new warranty still be valid from the day of purchase and up to
one year ??????? 201.88 plus svc to get it the way I wanted because they
did not have a HSS in stock, but I did want the locking tuners anyway.

Too bad I waited as I heard the deluxe model was only the same 999 a short while ago, and I could have had it all..........

Thanks for info on what I can and cant do with this and still be ok with Fender policy.

Mike
