Hi there, I have a Custom Shop Strat that originally came loaded with Texas Specials. I grew quite bored of Texas Specials in general long ago, and after tinkering with different pickup heights, they're still unpleasant (very muddy and not musical).
Now I'm taking the steps to replacing them with the 69's. I read somewhere that the capacitor for Texas Specials is different than CS'69.

I've already tried looking for Fender wiring diagrams and parts list for guitars loaded with the 69's to no avail, and a Fender Customer Service rep said that the custom shop keeps that info pretty close to the chest, but all I want is a suitable capacitor.

.022uf, .033uf, or .047uf?

So my question to the enlightened is this: What capacitors and and pots, etc., do I really need to make the upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

The standard pot for traditional Fender single coils has always been the 250K audio-taper CTS -- they're probably already installed in your guitar's pickguard. For tone caps, I don't think you'll be disappointed with the .022mfd oil-in-paper "chicklet" type.

Best of luck, HTH

I agree with Retro, 250's and .022µF.

Also consider wiring it so that the bottom tone control effects the bridge.

i've got the cs69's in my strat, and i used a sprague orange drop .047uf on mine. lovin' it! but i used to have a .022uf ceramic on there, and that sounded great too. it's an individual taste sorta thing. The natural tone of the instrument comes into play as well (brightness/darkness). in my personal opinion, another thing to consider is a treble bleed, so that you don't lose highs when rolling back the volume knob-that always drove me crazy! i also agree that wiring the bridge pup to the back tone knob is wise. to me, that's the one that most often needs taming, so why not have control over it?
