Hey all.
I just want to make sure I do this right.
About to change out my bridge pickup.
Got a mim 2010 Strat.
Want to install a Duncan ssl5 in the
bridge position.
Will keep the neck and middle on for now.
I thought I read somewhere here that you
had to wire Duncans black and white wires
reversed from the Duncan instructions
if installing with fender pickups.
(couldn't find the original post)
I want it to be in paralell with the other pups.
Just want to clarify before I tear into this thing.
Thanks for you attention and happy guit. picking.
"Bud"
EDIT: side 2 of the Duncan instruction sheet makes
a note of this at the top of the page but, they are
showing tapped pickups.
Side one with regular single coils does not mention
this.
Still would like opinion.
Thanks
"Bud"

Welcome, Bud.

You read correctly.

Parallel is the traditional way Strat pickups are wired. Following the SSL-5 wiring directions will achieve this.

If your SSL-5 is tapped (meaning, it is in fact, an SSL-5T), the same reverse wiring would apply. Simply choose which DC resistance you prefer (red or white wire) soldered to ground or, wire both the red and white wires to the switch and then out from the switch to ground. In either case, the black wire from the pickup is the hot wire. (Don't forget to ground the switch itself if you do use one.)

As to your statement, "Still would like opinion.", I don't understand what you are asking for an opinion on.

Thank you for the reply Martian.
I was confused (easy to do with me)
about the instruction sheet side 1 side 2
thing. Side 1 showing 2 wire pickup
and side 2 showing 3 wire pickup.
Just wanted to make sure I do this right
the first time.
I like to measure numerous times
and cut once.
anyway....Black hot, white ground it is.
Cheers

Glad to help and yes, I absolutely agree, "measure numerous times
and cut once."

Enjoy your new pickup!
