Well, there are a couple schools of thought...

1. Buy a cheap guitar and your not out much money if you don't like playing. You can always upgrade later if you do like playing.

2. Buy the best quality guitar you can afford now - the higher quality guitar (not always higher price) will always yield a better feel, tone and reliability, thereby making your experience more enjoyable. Most likely you will stick with playing the guitar and be the next hero!

I almost forgot...

You have to play them, or have someone play them for you while you listen. Not all like model guitars are created equal...There are so many models to choose from now.

I do not understand the poll at all.

Having said that, if I'm interpreting what I think your asking correctly, there's one of two ways to proceed:

If you are truly committed to learning how to play, buy the best guitar your budget allows.

If you are not sure that you will continue with the guitar, buy a cheaper one that is easy to play so just in case you quit, you won't be out a lot of money.
