1st - Can anybody tell me if the Fender Hot Noisless pickups that are available at guitar center.com are the same as the ones used on the Jeff Beck Custom Shop?

2nd - Will these drop right into my 57 AVRI? Do I need to change the pots?

Thanks for the help guys

Joe

I think they are. I'vde often heard that these were the ones in his guitar (or ones very similar). I've had a set in my American Std for about a year and I love them. They really liven up my attack. The cleans are still the signature Strat cleans.

Hello!

The Hot Nosieless are used in his Artist Series Strat but what he actually uses on stage is discussed in the thread link below

I don't think they will drop right in your avri, the pickup cavity is very shallow on these guitars and the Hot noiseless are a very deep pickup, above and below where the adjuster screws thread.

I've heard of this happening to a few players. With the AVRI Strats you don't have a lot of room to adjust the bridge. With a 2-point trem you can pretty much shim the neck and raise the bridge to give yourself extra room for the pickups if needed. Can't really do that with a vintage trem/bridge. Anyone wanting to keep the HN pups low on a AVRI Strat is pretty much out of luck unless you give them more room via the rout.

I have Fender Classic 50's series stratocaster that I put a set of the Hot Noiseless in. I had to do a fair amount of routing to the cavity to be able to adjust them properly. They are a stacked bucker basically, and need alot of room. Not sure about your guitar, but the depth I had to route down to was about 1 1/8". I do like the pickups though.

I put a set in my 50s Road Worn, and it is a tight fit for sure. You have now room to play with just to get the pickguard on. You can safely get them in, and have a good, usable tone, but you will have to live with what you got, because unless you route, you aren't getting them any lower.

They sound great BTW.

Yep!

I tried to drop a set in to my CP60's Strat....

Image

As you can see above the Hot Noiseless are 1" deep and below shows the CP60's pickup cavities are only 3 1/4" deep.....

Image

....Which doesn't leave much room for pickup height adjustment once they're installed.

Hope this helps

Andy

Absolutely! That's how all Big Hairy pickups are installed! :D

I guess you could say they're Custom "Shatter Wound" with "Shattered" Pole pieces.

I bet they'd work really well with a set of my custom "Flat" wound strings.

Enjoy!

Andy

Hi
I have put a set of these in a Fender Classic 50's series and had to do additional routing as well. A dremel tool would make quick work of this. I do not have one, so I used a drill with a large bit to route out the cavity. It wasn't horrible, just tedious, took an hour or so. If you have one or the other available, it can be done.
