G'day folks!

It's my first post here but I've been on the Seymour Duncan forum
for awhile under the same monicker.

I'm putting together an all walnut Tele with Nocaster's and I'm wanting
another Tele neck pickup in the middle position. I understand that
the neck is RWRP.

What Fender or alternative is the same wind and polarity as the bridge
and will fit in, volume wise?

Cheers, Will.

You are in luck. Actually of the Fender sets that are hum canceling, the bridge is the RW/RP one so most all Fender necks are North polarity.

The NC bridge is south.

the wind in the neck would be consistent as well so wiring the neck pup per color code should be fine (phase wise)

So if you wire it to have B and N and B and M, those positions would be hum canceling.

A Custom Shop Texas Special would be great in the middle I think. The CSTS is a tad hot but I should think with pickup height adjustments you would be able to balance it to sound good with the bridge.

Also are you thinking of being able to put the neck and bridge in series ?

I have another Tele with Nocasters and LOVE it in series.

You could put in a 4 way switch to control the N and B like a reg. Tele, plus have series (4th position), then a push/pull pot to add the middle pup to whatever. If you wire it like a reg. Strat ( 5 way switch) you wouldn't have neck and bridge combo and it just AIN"T A TELE without that !!

One more thing; for good results, space (layout) the pups like a Strat.

Welcome to the forum !

Thanks for the response!

I use Mike Richardson's 5 way schematic on all my 2 pickup Tele's.
The extra two positions give you:
B+N in series and = tele on steroids!
B+N in series out of phase = almost a wah effect, great for chord work

For this project I'll be using Mike's Strat schematic with two push/pull pots.
The tone pot switches the neck out phase and the vol gives you the
second 5 positions. It's also been modified to replace the middle
only with Bridge and Neck.

Here's what you get: +=parallel, ^=series

Volume up-
1)B
2)B+M
3)B+N
4)M+N
5)N

Volume down-
1)B+M+N
2)B^M
3)B^N
4)M^N
5)N^M^B

As you can see, the middle pickup is used in all but two of the ten positions
and as such it's role is quite important. It has to blend in well with both neck
and bridge and the compromise here is that it needs to be the same
polarity and wind as the bridge because I use the middle and neck alot
more and prefer to have hum cancelling there.

Cheers, Will.

Well, after a bit or research, purchases actually, I've discovered that
Duncan Antiquity and Fender Nocasters are identical polarity.

Neck is North and Bridge is South.

I'm really after a Tele neck pickup that reads low 7's and is South polarity.
Is the Fender 60's RI South like the originals were back then?
How about the Duncan STR-1?

I don't want to have a new pickup wound just an easy aftermarket solution.

Cheers, Will.

Like I said, afaik all Fender necks now are NORTH.

If you put a Strat pup in the middle (like a Nashville Telecaster) you could find a Fender South, and most "vintage" models are low KΩ.

I know you are looking for a Tele one though.

I see you on TDPRI too.
