I love the grit I get with them but I just don't get the bass I would like. Any thoughts? I have adjusted the height up and down even turned my bass eq all the way up I just don't understand. Any help is great.

Well, the long and the short of it is that the Texas Specials were meant to have that hump in the midrange (as you know). Being a single coil, there are only so many pre-determined sounds you can wind one for. Consequently, with this particular design, you'll not get a really defined low end or penetrating high end for that matter. To spread the range out a bit, all you can do is change your volume pot to a 500K. You'll get your extended bass and even some more highs but what will happen is that you'll smooth out the midrange hump a bit.

Unfortunately, if one set of frequencies is to dominate, the vast majority of the time, it is at the expense of others.
