I just replaced the thin bent steel bridge saddles on my 09 MIM Standard Strat with the GFS stainless steel bridge saddles:

http://store.guitarfetish.com/upststsafitr.html

These things are HEAVY. I can say that to my ears, the sustain has increased considerably. They sound very different, and to me, better than the bent steel saddles. They actually seemed to increase the loudness of the first three strings, compared to the last three enough that I had to lower the pups on the treble side by 1/64" to keep the volume even acrfoss the strings.

A couple things I found while installing them:

1. They are thicker than the Fender stainless saddles. Because of this, the string slot is deeper in the GFS saddle than in the Fender saddle.

2. The height adjustment screws are shorter than the screws that came with the MIM bent steel saddles. I used the longer MIM screws in the GFS saddles. using the MIM screws provided additional contact surface within the GFS saddles.

3. When adjusted to the desired string height, the top of the saddles is about the same height as the height adjustment screws are on the MIM bent steel saddles. They look high, but really aren't.

4. The GFS saddles are very comfortable to rest your hand on, but because the string is in a deeper recess, you cannot mute the string at the bridge. Not an issue for me, though it may be for others.

5. The really neat thing about them is that when properly adjusted, each saddle touches the next saddle, resulting in an almost solid saddle across the string spacing.

All in all, for about $15.00 (including shipping) I think they are well worth the price.

Jay and his crew at GFS does a pretty good job at keeping costs down.
