Hi I have a Strat Squier, and I was thinking about buying better pickups for it, but I don't know which ones to buy. My guitar has 4pickups, 1 in the neck, 1 in the middle, and 2 in the bridge, please help me!

Hi There.

If I can be a little on the blunt side here.........

If you don't know what tone your after, how can we advise you?
It is all relevant to what tone you want, style of music, playing style and so on.

Then there's the fact this is the guitar you have here is a low end model, why not save your money and step up to a Mexican made or American made unit. They use better woods, hardware and pick-ups in them.

Putting 200 dollars worth of pick-ups into a 100 dollar guitar will not be and good as having a better guitar.

Also, your bridge pickup is an uncovered humbucker. It looks like two single coil pickups sitting side by side.

Why it was a mistake, the situation is that I'm from Costa Rica and i would like to take advantage of my trip to US to buy some stuff for the guitar, but I don't have money enough to buy a new guitar.

What do you think I should do??

Save the money for the NEXT trip. Dont pay too much attention to your guitar right now. Focus on things you need to get better. Try to go Jack White mentality. Just play and play! Keep saving up that money for a good buy.

You guys don't know what you're talking about. I've put top-shelf pickups in a $100 guitar (Chevalier 1962s), and it sounds fantastic. As long as the guitar plays well, who cares what it costs?

But you're correct in that one has to know what one wants before we can make recommendations.

Well about it a think I'll buy better pickups, but not a really great pickups just to have a little bit of sound becouse there was a situation and I think I'm going to be on the road in a couple of weeks, and the next guitar I'll buy it in my next trip.

Well about the sound that I want, I'm playin' right now in a band that is a alternative rock band and I like to improve this classic rock feeling, like Creedance, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden a little bit hard rock almost metal but not giving up on that classic sound. For my next guitar what pickups should I use

Get some Seymour Duncan JBjr's. They are about $70.00 apiece or you can buy a set of three a little cheaper as a set. They will fit into your squire without having to change the pickguard. All you will need is a soldiering gun to put them in. I think you will find these pickups will give you a good Classic Rock, Blues, or Early Eightes Metal Sound. 8)

If you don't want to spend a ton of $$$ on the Seymour Duncan's, check out this website (you need 2 Strat pickups and a humbucker):
