Any chance it only happens when you're using a distortion pedal? I used to have a Blues Driver that squeeled whenever I used it.

It is quite possible as some coils can be looser than others.

It depends...are they feeding back all the time, at any volume and any position of the pickup selector? Also, if you stand or sit in front of your amp with the volume up, just about any pickup will produce feedback. And are you sure its feedback and not just some single coil hum?

Hey! well the guitar always feedback at any combination of pickups at any volumen, I put at every position I can far or near of the amp. It's that becouse of the pickups, I was thinking about buying new ones, but a guy told dosen't worth buying pickups to my guitar becouse is a really cheap guitar (squier), but I don't have money to buy a new guitar, and I would like to take advantage of my trip to US becouse I'm from Costa Rica and here is really expensive buying stuff for guitar!

What do you think I should do???¿¿¿???

It is your pickups.

If you can't afford a better guitar, then by all means, buy yourself a better set of pickups, especially if you are content with the way your Squier plays.

While choosing your upgraded set of pickups, I'd also take into consideration the fact that eventually you'll be able to buy a better guitar and the pickups you choose now should also be a nice addition to that better guitar.

Martian,

I liked your answer!

It might also be of value to consider a completely wired pick guard assembly with some moderate priced pickups included. This will make it easer to replace the pups with less room for error. There are some relatively inexpensive assemblies on the market.

Thank you, I try to be realistic.

All he has to do is to look at how the current pickups are wired. He could simply unsolder one OEM pickup's wire, one at a time and replace it with the new pickup's wire, one at a time.

Martian,

I have seen the mess some people make when trying to solder or unsolder items. Especially if there is a need for delicacy. Too much heat melts things if you don't use a "heat sink". Not sure how good Daniel is with a soldering tool.

Actually I am intrigued with the pre-wired pick guards and have looked at the Dave Gilmour pick guard assembly ($300) more than once. I am still happy with my current Amer. Std. stock set now so can't talk myself into changing - but it will come.

Indeed, those types have made me a lot of money over the decades. I must admit though, I never use(d) a heat sink.

I guess Daniel would be the only one at this point who could say.

A lot of players don't give those OEM Am Std pickups a chance as they are extremely versatile pickups. Unfortunately, too many players already have replacement pickups in hand even before the guitar itself is in their possession.

For those who are into active pickups, the Gilmore kit is probably the best one can get for a Strat. On the other hand, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"
