So, I want to change a Tele HH from it's standard wiring to an S-1 Switch and a Blend Pot; is this possible? I've been told that this would eliminate the series/parallel switching capabilities, which would eliminate my desire.

It is possible. However, what you've been told is correct.

Hello!

If you were to uses a no load tone pot (that clicks out at ten), would I be right in thinking that the S-1 switch would only be compromised when blending and would otherwise act as normal?

Andy

He would have to permanently assign the hot and cold leads of both pickups to the pan pot. Consequently, one of the leads of one of the pickups could not 'float' per a series/parallel wiring scheme. Or to put it another way, he'd have to have additional switches to accommodate such a scheme which would not be practical in terms of, "on the fly" switching.

Now I might be a bit late on this one but.....

I rekon you could get the bridge pup to blend in on positions 5 and 4 if you wired it something like this....

Image

The S-1 wiring may not be the same as the op's but its the purple and green wires we want to be looking at.

I think it will work or did it have too much coffee and a slow day at the office....Whats the score Martian?

Andy

Your wiring appears feasible but not what he requires. He wanted the S-1 and a pan pot where he wouldn't lose his series/parallel capabilities.

OK, I have to stick up for you here!

First, you're not an idiot and second, it is only human to miss a word or phrase every now and again in the communicated word. Case in point: There was a question on this forum recently where someone wanted to know how to wire up a Duncan JB. I went through the whole explanation and then I realized he required it to a 5 way with a coil cut in position #2 and that he was combining it with a model of Fender pickups where the JB would naturally be out of phase with them. So, after typing up the whole thing and posting it, I reread his post and realized these issues. Consequently, I deleted my post and started over from scratch.

Once again, "Great minds think alike" and apparently, can also be equally susceptible to alike dysfunction at times.
