I just ordered a set of SCN pickups. Any tips on installation or pickup height? These are for my '09 MIM Strat.

Do not set them too high, especially the neck pickup. They will sound muddy and ill-defined if the poles are too close to the strings.

About 2.0 millimeters away from the strings for the neck and middle, 2.5 millimeters for the neck should be optimum.

This is true, don't set the pickups to high.

When I got my Deluxe from Fender I had to lower the pups which really cleaned up my tone gave me better clarity from the pups.

You just have to find that sweet spot.

The way I do it is, whilst standing with your guitar play something repeatedly starting with the neck pickup, then whilst still standing use a screwdriver to adjust the pup height. Once you find that sweet spot, move on to the middle, then bridge..

This method has worked wonders for me. Sometimes pups are wound hotter than their factory specs state, so that means you have to tinker a little to find the Sweet Spot. Once you find the right height you will immediately feel adrenalin with blood rushing to your brain...then you will :D and say thats it 8)

SCN's are great pickups..

Ah yes, a brain fart. My bad.

2.0 millimeters for the middle and bridge pickups. Neck pickup height as mentioned.

Sorry 'bout that.

I am wondering.../as you say, don't set them too high. When I set the pickup, I was measuring from the string towards the pickup (without pressing the string). So, my question is: Should I press the string and then measure, or I should not press the string and then measure?

Please answer here, or send me your opinion on: nikogavrilov@yahooo.com

Thank you...

You need to press down on the last fret of the first and sixth string and measure to the top of each pole piece. I have mine set at 9/64" on the first string and 10/64" on the sixth string.
