Wiring a HSS Strat.

I just picked up a MIM HSS strat that was wired with CS-69's in the middle and neck position,
and it also has a Seymour Duncan JB Humbucker in the bridge position.
The person that put these in did not wire the SD-JB correct. What I get is an out of phase sound
in the # 2 position with toggle switch.

If I look at the wiring diagram for a stock HSS at Fenders site
http://support.fender.com/diagrams/stra ... 02CPg2.pdf
it shows the original wiring using the "black-white and green wire" and I'm assuming that
the "RED wire" go to ground? (it doesn't show this color in the diagram).

But, in the SD-JB wiring diagram, it shows the "GREEN and Bare" wires going to ground.

So what is the correct way to wire in the SD-JB humbucker using a normal 5 way switch?

Where does the Black, White, Green, Red, bare wires go on the SD-JB?

Thanks for the help......!!

Michael

Michael,

I shall refer to the Fender diagram for reference:

If you follow the wires from the original bridge pickup, you will see a single wire going to the first terminal on the left side of the pickup selector switch. With the Duncan, solder the green wire there.

You will see a pair of wires coming from the original pickup soldered together at the second terminal on the right side of the pickup selector switch. Solder the white and red wires of the Duncan there.

You will see one more wire coming from the original pickup to the back of the volume pot. Solder the black one from the Duncan there.

Also, solder the bare wire from the Duncan to the back of the volume pot.

Now, if the Duncan is out of phase in position #2 of the toggle, simply reverse its green and black wires but leave the bare wire alone.

Martian.....thanks for the reply.

I open the guitar up...and was wired similar to this, but the red wire was attached to the ground, and the bare wire wasn't soldered to anything.
I'll give you're way a try......we'll see what happens!

Thanks,
Michael
