Hi,
I recently installed a set of three Custom Shop Texas Specials, but I am a little disapointed. I probably did something wrong and now I have low output on my pu's.
When I play them normal I have to crank the amp a way up to get a decent sound, but then comes in a anoying continius sound (sounds like a sawingmachine at high speed).
The T.S. pups are installed into a 1995 Strat with TBX controls.
When I play my 2003 standard Strat directly after the one with the Texas Specials I have to lower my ampvolume.

Thank you very much for your help.

check your pickup heights first

use your ears and raise them to get a good balance
of volume and clarity (too low clearer tone yet less power)
(too high lots of power but muddier in chords plus string pull
can cause it to sound out of tune )
it is personal preference thing

And if this doesn't remedy the problem, something is positively wrong with your wiring as the odds of all three pickups being defective is astronomical.

When a Martian starts using the word astronomical, you better believe what he says !

+1............ you have something screwed up wiring wise.

When you play EACH pup by itself are they quiet, or just in
position 2 & 4?

What wiring diagram did you use ?

Can you post some GOOD pics of your control area.

If you have a meter ( ohms scale) and can mesure at your output jack, you will see if something wrong.

position 1, bridge pu ; aprox 6 to 7000 ohms
position 2 , half of pos 1
position 3, aprox 6 to 7000 ohms
position 4 , half
position 5 , aprox 6-to 7000 ohms

Thanks to all who did reply to my question, the problem is solved, resoldered the connection on the volume pot, where the pup wires where connected to, what a relief, the Texas Specials sound really great.
Thank you very much to all.
