hello I've always changed parts on my guitars and also i do it by myself, i have a fender strat and it has 3 dimarzio's (HS3-HS2-HS3) now i'm using the TBX control as a second tone control (bridge and middle) , on volume control i use a 250k pot, and on the first tone control (neck) i use a 250k pot as well, i have three questions, a) that combination of Pots is good for me?, b) what happens if i use a 500k pot on Volume?, c) is true that on 5 the TBX control works like a normal 250k pot? thanks for the help!!

Welcome.

a) Only you can answer that. If you mean will this pot combination hurt the guitar or rob you of tone somehow, the answer is no.

b) The midrange of your pickups will dissolve in favor of more highs and lows.

c) On 5 with the TBX is like being on 10 with a 'regular' 250K pot.

You're quite welcome.

Actually, the pickup will sound weaker although crisper. See, the "balls" of any pickup is in its midrange. So, filtering out a pickup's midrange will sharpen all the other frequencies at the cost of removing whatever 'guts' it may be perceived to have.

I'm glad I could help. Best of all, you already have everything exactly the way you like it!
