For a 2008 CS Custom Classic Strat, where could I get the p/u specs. All I know is that they are called: modern classic (hot for bridge). They came set up very low (like Texas Specials). Is that normal? It plays/sounds fine.

You won't normally find any specs from Fender on pups not sold over the counter. They are possibly similar to the American Standard but a special wind at/for the Custom Shop model.

I dug this up.
Pickups: 2 Modern Classic single-coil pickups (neck, middle), 1 Hot Classic single-coil pickup (bridge) with custom steel inductance plate (All pickups have modern magnet stagger)

I find a lot of Strat pups sound nice ( quack and chimmy) set real low so that would not be unusual. So even go flush with the pickguard.

Just to take some of the 'awe and mystery' out of the plates they attach to the bottom of pickups: These plates alter the magnetic field of the pickup, adding more midrange and bass which in turn, makes the listener perceive the pickup as slightly louder as the 'balls' of any pickup comes from its midrange.

Yep, it's all about Henry.

One of these days I need to get/make one up and try it for S&G's.

Callaham makes one for Strat:

Every Tele (3) pup I have has a base plate on the bridge pup.

And don't forget, "Eddy" (as in, currents).
