Hi guys. I'm seriously considering upgrading my 2009 MIM Standard Tele to the Texas Special pickups, along with a 4 way switch. Do you feel this is a worthwhile investment? I'm still a beginner as far as I am concerned. I've been playing(and taking lessons) just over 1 year. I got started late in the game(39 yrs old, 40 now). I know that the stock ceramic pickups are quite hot, and they do sound nice. I eventually would like to play blues, blues rock, modern country, etc. I also like to mess around in drop D tuning with lots of gain through my super champ xd. Is it worth the $200(with pro installation) investment for this upgrade, or should I leave things stock for now? Any insight or comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have a Tele set up just like that, CS Texas Specials and a 4 way.

I think when it's all done you won't be disappointed, even if its $200. For the price of the pickups, switch and the installation, that price doesn't sound too bad. To buy the parts alone would be $ 140-160.

They are very nice sounding pickups and with the 4 way (in series) they are pretty good a little dirty.

Also the bridge pickup is RW/RP to the neck so there is some hum cancelling in the second selector switch position.

Had to smile reading your post as I am 39 year old, been playing for about a year and also on a 2009 MIM strat!
I guess one quickly gets fussy from tone perspective and traded the solid state amp in for tube amp (Marshall Haze combo) and really had to get rid of the stock bridge p/up as it sounded trebly and thin. Put in a SD hotrails and instrument really came alive. Now keen to upgrade neck and middle p/ups too, and considering Texas specials also. Some of the SD single coils sould good, eg SSL-5's.

It's worth it, but you may want to look at doing it yourself. When I was changing my Strat's pickups, that's what I did. Just be careful and thorough, and you both save yourself fifty bucks, and arm yourself with the knowledge of how to do it again.
